Wisconsin Bid Bond
Bids on Wisconsin state building projects let by the Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Development, need a bid bond under Wis. Stat. § 16.855(2)(b)1. The state bid bond form sets the penal sum at 10 percent of the total bid. Cities and other local bodies set bid security in their own bid documents.
Wisconsin Performance & Payment Bond
Wisconsin Statutes Section 779.14 requires a payment bond on public improvement contracts of $10,000 or more. The bond penalty must be not less than the contract price.
Wisconsin Contractor License Bond
A business that pulls building permits for one- and two-family homes in Wisconsin needs a Dwelling Contractor certification from the Department of Safety and Professional Services. Under Wis. Stat. § 101.654 it must show financial responsibility with either a surety bond of at least $25,000 or general liability insurance of at least $250,000 per occurrence.
Wisconsin Mechanic's Lien Discharge Bond
Under Wis. Stat. § 779.08, an owner or other interested party can release a construction lien by filing a surety undertaking, or depositing money, a certified check or government bonds, equal to 125 percent of the lien claim. Once the court approves the substitute security, the clerk removes the lien from the judgment and lien docket.
Wisconsin Subdivision Bond
Wis. Stat. § 236.13(2)(a) lets a town or municipality require a subdivider to install public improvements, or post a surety bond or other security for them, as a condition of plat approval. The local governing body sets the amount, within limits set by the statute.
Wisconsin Maintenance Bond
Wisconsin law requires payment bonds on public improvement contracts (Wis. Stat. § 779.14), and state building bids call for performance and payment bonds, but no statewide maintenance or warranty bond requirement was found. When used, the project owner sets it in the contract or local development agreement.
Wisconsin Right-of-Way Bond
Under Wis. Stat. § 86.07(2)(a), any work in a Wisconsin highway right-of-way needs a permit from the authority that maintains the highway. A statewide WisDOT bond for these permits was not confirmed; cities set bond rules for work in their streets, for example Wisconsin Rapids requires a $10,000 bond on file before it issues an excavating permit.
Wisconsin Permit Bond
Wisconsin has no statewide permit bond. Cities set their own, for example Wisconsin Rapids will not issue an excavating permit until a $10,000 bond in the city's name is on file.
Wisconsin Supply Bond
No Wisconsin statute requires supply bonds. State purchasing rules (Wis. Admin. Code Adm 7.08) let the agency require a performance surety when a contractor's failure to perform would cause damage, applied the same way to every bidder on that solicitation.
Wisconsin Stop Payment Notice Release Bond
On Wisconsin public improvements, an unpaid subcontractor or supplier can serve notice of a lien on money owed to the prime contractor, and the public body must hold back enough to pay the claim (Wis. Stat. § 779.15). Under Wis. Stat. § 779.17, the prime contractor can get the held funds released by filing a surety bond, approved by the public authority, guaranteeing payment of any judgment for the claimant.
Wisconsin Notary Bond
Wisconsin notary applicants file a $500 surety bond with the Department of Financial Institutions for a four-year commission. Lawyers licensed in Wisconsin who apply for a permanent commission do not need a bond.
Wisconsin Freight Broker Bond (BMC-84)
Property brokers registered with FMCSA must keep $75,000 in financial security under 49 U.S.C. 13906. A surety bond is filed on Form BMC-84; a trust fund is filed on Form BMC-85.
