Alaska Bid Bond

Alaska state procurement requires bid security of at least 5 percent of the bid under AS 36.30.120. Bid, payment and performance bonds are required on state construction contracts over $100,000 (2 AAC 12.810).

Alaska Performance & Payment Bond

Alaska requires a performance bond and a payment bond before it awards a public building or public works contract over $100,000 under AS 36.25.010. The performance bond must equal the payment bond.

Alaska Contractor License Bond

Alaska construction contractors must provide a surety bond to the state under AS 08.18.071 to be licensed. The amount depends on the license type.

Alaska Mechanic's Lien Discharge Bond

In Alaska, a bond recorded under AS 34.35.072 releases the property from the effect of a mechanic's and materialman's lien claim. The bond is one and one-half times the amount of the lien claim.

Alaska Subdivision Bond

Alaska boroughs and cities set subdivision improvement guarantees in their own platting codes. In Anchorage, the subdivision agreement must guarantee the required public improvements, and a performance bond is one accepted method, in an amount equal to the estimated cost of the improvements plus an overrun allowance.

Alaska Maintenance Bond

Alaska's public works bond law, AS 36.25.010, requires performance and payment bonds on public building and public works contracts over $100,000, but does not require a maintenance or warranty bond. When one is used, the contract or local agency sets it.

Alaska Right-of-Way Bond

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities may require a bond for utility permits in its right-of-way, under 17 AAC 15.051. The department sets the amount and duration.

Alaska Permit Bond

Alaska has no statewide permit bond; cities and boroughs set their own. For example, the Municipality of Anchorage uses a $10,000 Construction Performance Bond for work in its rights of way, covering damage to public property and compliance with city ordinances.

Alaska Supply Bond

Alaska's public bond law, AS 36.25.010, covers performance and payment bonds on contracts for building, altering or repairing public buildings and public works. It does not set a supply bond; when one is used, the buyer's bid or contract documents set it.

Alaska Stop Payment Notice Release Bond

Alaska lets an unpaid claimant serve a stop-lending notice on the construction lender under AS 34.35.062, but the statute does not provide a bond to release it. The notice expires on the 91st day after the lender receives it unless the claimant has sued, and the claimant can revoke it in writing.

Alaska Notary Bond

An Alaska notary public without limitation must file a $2,500 official bond with the application. The bond covers the four-year commission term.

Alaska Freight Broker Bond (BMC-84)

Property brokers registered with FMCSA must keep $75,000 in financial security under 49 U.S.C. 13906. A surety bond is filed on Form BMC-84; a trust fund is filed on Form BMC-85.
