Nevada Bid Bond
Bids over $100,000 on Nevada State Public Works Division building projects must include bid security of at least 5% of the base bid and all alternates, under NAC 341.077.
Nevada Performance & Payment Bond
Nevada public works contracts over $100,000 require a performance bond and a payment bond, each at least 50% of the contract amount, under NRS 339.025. NDOT highway contracts require bonds equal to the full contract amount, under NRS 408.357.
Nevada Contractor License Bond
Nevada requires a surety bond or cash deposit before the State Contractors Board issues a contractor's license, under NRS 624.270. The Board sets the amount between $1,000 and $500,000.
Nevada Mechanic's Lien Discharge Bond
In Nevada, a recorded lien can be released by recording a surety bond equal to 1.5 times the lienable amount in the notice of lien, under NRS 108.2415.
Nevada Subdivision Bond
Nevada local governing bodies or planning commissions may require a subdivider's improvement agreement to be secured by a bond or other security, under NRS 278.380.
Nevada Maintenance Bond
No general Nevada maintenance bond law was found. NDOT performance bonds stay in effect for one year after completion, under NRS 408.357.
Nevada Right-of-Way Bond
Nevada Administrative Code § 408.437 authorizes NDOT district engineers to require a performance or cash bond equal to 110% of their cost estimate before issuing an occupancy permit for work on a state highway right-of-way. For telecommunications facilities on state highway ROW, NAC § 408.4404 separately authorizes NDOT to require a surety bond of $100,000 up to $2,000,000 based on facility length and risk. The underlying permit requirement is set by NRS § 408.423, which prohibits any disturbance or encroachment on a state highway without the Director's written permit.
Nevada Permit Bond
Nevada has no statewide statute requiring a surety bond as a universal condition of building or work permits. Cities and counties set their own requirements. The City of Reno, for example, requires a $5,000 surety bond from any contractor excavating, grading, or paving in a public street under Reno Municipal Code § 12.08.090; the bond remains in effect for three years after the permit conditions are satisfied.
Nevada Supply Bond
Nevada has no statute specifically requiring a supply bond for a pure materials or equipment supply contract. NRS § 339.025 mandates performance and payment bonds for public construction contracts over $100,000 (each bond at least 50% of the contract amount), but that applies to construction work and does not cover standalone supply agreements. For state procurement, NRS § 333.360 gives the Administrator of the Purchasing Division discretionary authority to require a bond up to the full contract amount before executing a supply contract, but this is permissive, not mandatory.
Nevada Stop Payment Notice Release Bond
Nevada does not have a stop payment notice or stop notice mechanism in its construction law. Unpaid subcontractors and material suppliers protect their payment rights by filing mechanics liens under NRS Chapter 108, not by serving a stop notice. NRS §§ 108.2413–108.2425 provide a surety bond procedure to release a recorded mechanics lien (bond amount equals 1.5 times the lienable amount), but that is a lien release bond, not a stop payment notice release bond.
Nevada Notary Bond
Nevada notaries must enter into a $10,000 bond to the State of Nevada, filed with the county clerk, under NRS 240.030. The bond must stay in effect for the whole appointment.
Nevada Freight Broker Bond (BMC-84)
Property brokers registered with FMCSA must keep $75,000 in financial security under 49 U.S.C. 13906. A surety bond is filed on Form BMC-84; a trust fund is filed on Form BMC-85.
