Connecticut Bid Bond
Connecticut requires general bids on public building contracts to include a bid bond or certified check under Conn. Gen. Stat. § 4b-92, as quoted in state bid documents.
Connecticut Performance & Payment Bond
Connecticut's Little Miller Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. § 49-41, requires a payment bond equal to the contract amount on state and municipal public works contracts over $100,000. A performance bond may be added by the awarding officer.
Connecticut Contractor License Bond
Connecticut does not require a bond to register as a home improvement contractor. Contractors register with the Department of Consumer Protection and pay into the Home Improvement Guaranty Fund, which can pay a homeowner up to $25,000 per contract when a registered contractor's job goes wrong.
Connecticut Mechanic's Lien Discharge Bond
In Connecticut, a property owner can ask a Superior Court judge to dissolve a mechanic's lien by substituting a bond, under Conn. Gen. Stat. § 49-37.
Connecticut Subdivision Bond
Connecticut planning commissions may accept a surety bond or other financial guarantee for subdivision public improvements under Conn. Gen. Stat. § 8-25. The town sets the amount.
Connecticut Maintenance Bond
Connecticut's Little Miller Act (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 49-41) requires a payment bond on public works contracts over $100,000, with a performance bond at the awarding officer's option. No statewide maintenance or warranty bond requirement was found; when used, the project owner or town sets it in the contract or approval.
Connecticut Right-of-Way Bond
Work in a Connecticut state highway right-of-way needs a CTDOT encroachment permit, and a surety bond is required before the permit is issued. The district permit office sets the amount.
Connecticut Permit Bond
Connecticut has no statewide permit bond. Towns set their own, for example Harwinton requires a performance bond of at least $5,000, in a form acceptable to the First Selectman, before it issues a street excavation permit.
Connecticut Supply Bond
No Connecticut statute requiring supply bonds was found. The state's public works bond law (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 49-41) covers construction contracts, not supply contracts; when a supply bond is used, the buyer sets it in the bid or contract.
Connecticut Stop Payment Notice Release Bond
Connecticut does not have a stop payment notice procedure. Unpaid contractors and suppliers use mechanic's liens on private projects (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 49-33 and following) and payment bonds on public works (§ 49-41).
Connecticut Notary Bond
Connecticut does not require a notary bond. Notaries are appointed by the Secretary of the State for five-year terms, and the state notary manual says a notary may choose to buy a bond or errors and omissions insurance.
Connecticut Freight Broker Bond (BMC-84)
Property brokers registered with FMCSA must keep $75,000 in financial security under 49 U.S.C. 13906. A surety bond is filed on Form BMC-84; a trust fund is filed on Form BMC-85.
