Nebraska Bid Bond
Bids on Nebraska state agency building and improvement contracts must come with a certified check or bid bond in a sum fixed by the agency, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 72-803.
Nebraska Performance & Payment Bond
Nebraska public contracts require a payment bond of not less than the contract price, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 52-118. State agency building contracts also require a performance bond, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 72-803.
Nebraska Contractor License Bond
Nebraska contractors register with the Department of Labor under the Contractor Registration Act, which has no state bond. Some cities require bonds; Lincoln requires a $5,000 license and permit bond from excavation, sign and street use contractors.
Nebraska Mechanic's Lien Discharge Bond
In Nebraska, real estate can be released from construction liens by depositing security, including a surety bond, equal to the liens plus 15%, with the district court clerk, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 52-142.
Nebraska Subdivision Bond
Nebraska enabling statutes authorize cities and counties to require a developer to post a 'good and sufficient bond guaranteeing installation' of required public improvements as a condition of plat approval. Under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 15-901, cities of the primary class may withhold plat approval until such a bond is posted; Neb. Rev. Stat. § 23-174.03 grants the same authority to counties in areas adjacent to those cities. No statewide mandate fixes a specific bond amount; local ordinance governs the amount and form.
Nebraska Maintenance Bond
Nebraska's public construction bond statute, Neb. Rev. Stat. § 52-118, requires only a payment bond — in a sum not less than the contract price — covering labor and materials on public projects above the applicable threshold ($15,000 for state projects; $10,000 for local projects). No Nebraska statute separately mandates a standalone maintenance or warranty bond; project owners, including NDOT through its Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, impose warranty or maintenance obligations by contract or specification.
Nebraska Right-of-Way Bond
Nebraska cities set bonds for work in the public right of way. Lincoln requires a $5,000 license and permit bond for excavation and street use permits.
Nebraska Permit Bond
Nebraska permit bonds are set by cities. Lincoln requires a $5,000 license and permit bond for excavation, sign and street use permits.
Nebraska Supply Bond
Nebraska has no statewide statute requiring a standalone supply bond on materials or equipment contracts. Neb. Rev. Stat. § 52-118 (the Little Miller Act) requires a payment bond on public construction contracts covering labor and materials actually used in the work, but this is a construction payment bond — not a separate supply bond. For certain county supply-and-materials contracts of $50,000 or less, Neb. Rev. Stat. § 31-118 requires a performance bond or equivalent security conditioned on faithful performance, but this provision is limited to county drainage-related procurement.
Nebraska Stop Payment Notice Release Bond
Nebraska does not have a stop payment notice statute. Unpaid subcontractors and suppliers on private projects use mechanics liens under the Nebraska Construction Lien Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 52-125 to 52-159); on public projects they claim on the payment bond under § 52-118. Neb. Rev. Stat. § 52-135 provides an optional 'Notice of Right to Assert a Lien' that a claimant may serve on the contracting owner, but this does not obligate a construction lender to withhold funds and is not a stop payment notice. Because Nebraska has no stop payment notice mechanism, there is no release bond for one.
Nebraska Notary Bond
Nebraska notaries must file a $15,000 surety bond with the Secretary of State before being commissioned, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 64-102. The commission runs four years.
Nebraska Freight Broker Bond (BMC-84)
Property brokers registered with FMCSA must keep $75,000 in financial security under 49 U.S.C. 13906. A surety bond is filed on Form BMC-84; a trust fund is filed on Form BMC-85.
