What a supply bond is
A supply bond guarantees a supplier will deliver materials or equipment as the contract says. Public agencies and project owners use them on large supply contracts.
In Indiana
No Indiana statute requires supply bonds. Indiana's public works law requires bid security of up to 10% (IC 36-1-12-4.5), a performance bond (IC 36-1-12-14) and a payment bond (IC 36-1-12-13.1) on public works; a bond on a supply contract is set by the buyer.
You need this bond if you're
- A material supplier on a public contract
- An equipment vendor or manufacturer
- A distributor supplying a large private project
